I really appreciate every initiative that brings an affirmative and positive perspectives to things that are otherwise stigmatized in society.
Living with HIV, working in HIV care and advocate for HIV and sexual health rights is quite often seen in a very negative or demeaning way.
So when I received the invitation to participate in this project that I already admired, I felt an overwhelming joy to be able to contribute to a statement piece of art that will bring attention to HIV joy and empowerment!

It’s become a meditative practice that brings deeper meaning to existence and pushes me to grow every day, making me more compassionate and open-minded in my life.”
The importance of understanding and supporting each other should be one of our main priorities, it can help create balanced relationships in society. Now, when many things are changing around us, it is our responsibility to be kind, respectful and trust one another. It is important to show compassion for those living in any discrimination. Let’s embrace our differences as we are not grown up in the same family, country or same abilities, but as human beings the history is common and we have the ability to learn from it and use it properly to build a better tomorrow.

We are very pleased to be a part of this worthwhile cause. When HIV first came on the scene it was accompanied by the most terrifying advertising campaigns, which people of a certain generation would never be able to forget. Advances in medicine have meant that HIV is fortunately no longer a death sentence. Ignorance however means stigma sadly still remains, so an event such as HIV The Naked Truth Live Gala is very necessary even in 2025..

HIV has affected so much of my world throughout my life; my family, my community, my livelihood.
I believe it is crucial to keep speaking about not only the history of HIV and its effect on society but also about the future of HIV; those that will continue to live with it as well as how our communities will exist with it as we continue to learn more and strive towards finding better treatments and cures.
Though modern pharmaceutical medicine has changed the way the disease physically affects humans, there is still so much more that needs to be done.
The emotional and psychological stigma, though shifted, also still exists. It is vital for us as a global community to keep the knowledge of it alive so that HIV doesn’t become something that was “back in the day”. It is still now and it still affects too many people across this planet.
As an artist I have dedicated so much of my life to storytelling, to encouraging hope for change, and to providing inspiration. I wish to continue to do that for this gala, for a cause that is dear to my heart.
